वारिसनामा कैसे बनाएं (How to prepare a waris nama)
- मृत्यु प्रमाण पत्रGet the death certificate from the local registrar. Attach a copy.
- वारिसों की सूचीList every legal heir with relation and age. Under the applicable succession law, include all heirs, not only those claiming.
- संपत्ति का विवरणDescribe the land (khasra, khata, village) or the account for which the waris nama is needed.
- स्टाम्प व नोटरीPrint on stamp paper if the office asks, and swear before a notary or oath commissioner.
- प्रस्तुत करेंSubmit to the tehsil, revenue office or bank with the death certificate, ID of heirs and any NOC from other heirs.

Is waris nama the same as a legal heir certificate?
No. The waris nama is your affidavit. A legal heir certificate is issued by the revenue authority.
Can a daughter be a waris?
Yes. Daughters are legal heirs under the succession laws that apply to most families; a married daughter does not lose that status. Check the personal law that applies.
How long does mutation take after submitting a waris nama?
It depends on the State and the office. Ask the tehsil or revenue office for its timeline.
