E-Stamp Rental Agreement Format: How to Print on an E-Stamp

Many States now issue stamp duty as an e-stamp certificate instead of pre-printed stamp paper. The certificate is printed and the agreement is printed on it or attached to it.

What an e-stamp is

E-stamping is the online method of paying non-judicial stamp duty to the State government. SHCIL (Stock Holding Corporation of India) is the Central Record Keeping Agency for e-stamps, and States choose whether and how to offer e-stamping, so availability and process differ by State.

  1. Find the State processUse your State’s e-stamp option through SHCIL’s portal, authorised collection centres, banks, or the State’s own portal.
  2. Enter detailsArticle or description (lease or rent agreement), first party, second party, consideration, and the duty amount for your State.
  3. Print the certificateThe certificate carries a unique number and can be verified online.
  4. Print the agreementPrint the agreement text on the certificate’s blank area and following sheets, or attach it.
  5. SignBoth parties sign every page with witnesses; notarise or register as needed.
